Business.com sold for a whopping 350 million bucks

Originally the domain name was purchased for 7.5 milllion. RH Donnelley purchased the domain name for a reported $350 million. There was a bid war between RH Donnelley, Dow Jones, and The New York Times but RH Donnelly in the end won and got what they wanted.

RH Donnelley is an online local commercial search company. Seeing that Business.com is a business search directory this will be a nice addition to RH Donnelley’s empire. Business.com has been reported to have an earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) of an estimated $15 million per year. Finally it sold for 23 times the EBITDA for the grand total of $350 million.

That’s just crazy! It’s great that he won the bidding war over DOW and the NYT…Great business move though :D

I wish I knew about domaining back in the day so I could snag up all of the good domains haha
