Canada Day

I just wanted to let all of my non-Canadian readers know that Canada Day is coming up on July 1st. So what is Canada Day?

Canada Day is often referred to as “Canada’s birthday,” particularly in the popular press. However the first day of July does not commemorate a clear-cut date of “independence” or “founding,” but instead merely commemorates the begining of the establishment of the Canadian confederation through the 1867 British North America Act.The British Parliament still retained several political controls over Canada after 1867, and the country still lacked many of its modern provinces. July 1, 1867 represented the establishment of Canada as a kingdom in its own right, the begining of a new phase of Canadian self-soverignity and democracy, and was the begining of the slow march towards full independence from Britain, attained with the proclamation of the Constitution Act by Elizabeth II, Queen of Canada, in 1982.

So I just wanted to let all of my readers know that I will be missing my first day of posting this weekend because I will be going out of town to celebrate Canada Day :) . My goal when I started this blog was to never miss a day of posting but I think this is a valid reason to leave for a few days. I should be back on Monday. When I get back I will return to my regular posting schedule. I hope you all enjoy Canada day!

I’m actually going to write a post on this but I haven’t made any money from it so far. I think sometime this week I will be removing auction ads from my site and just have ads by google.

I’m also using auctionads. I can say that it’s quite ok, they have good stats. I haven’t earned any money with it jet, but I believe it’s just a matter of time. Hey, if You want to register to auction ads go to problogger.com, thare is special link with which You can get extra $5, not much but better than nothing :). GL

This is an interesting post Shaun…especially since my sister and I have been seriously considering becoming Canadian Citizens.

A few months ago I was on the phone with a customer service rep who was guiding me through how to clean up my hard drive for more storage and she was from Alberta, Calgary and she was telling me how beautiful it was and about it being debt free and all the wonderful benefits and opportunities.

This really appealed to me and not to mention when I was living in Seattle I became a weekly regular in Surrey, B.C. and that’s when Canada became one of my top 5 places I would LOVE to live.

Is this post a sign of serendipity? Because yesterday my lil sis came home with relocation info, making plans to relocate to Calgary after this school season…I feel it’s time for me to take my first step in that direction as well. =]

So Shaun are you a Canadian or do you just live close by?

Yes I am Canadian! I am actually from Edmonton which is about 3 hours north of Calgary. I’ve also been to Calgary probably over 30 times and it’s a very nice city I would reccomend living there any day! Edmonton is also a very nice city to, City of Champions ;) .
