I would, If I had my blog on a thirdpary, keep the old blog where it was, add a big banner to the right hand side letting users know that I have moved to another blog address on every page. Ensure that I have lots of link love pointing to the new blog from my most important pages, and ensure that I rewrite all the pages with the best landing pages and point accordingly.
