Increase Blog Traffic - Part 2 - Maximize MyBlogLog
Aug. 15th, 2007 by ShaunMyBlogLog is a social community that allows bloggers to surf other peoples profiles, find new blogs, start communities where people of similar interests can join and generate some extra traffic to your site. You can sign up for MyBlogLog from their home page and will only take seconds. When you sign up make sure your profile links to your home page of your blog. Once you have signed with up MyBlogLog find a unique picture and upload it to your profile so you can create your own image.

How do I get traffic from MyBlogLog?
- Surf other profiles. This is going to be the most time consuming part of using MBL, you will probably want to surf at least 100 profiles a day. You don’t have to read their profile or anything just stop by for a visit and your picture that you loaded to your profile will remain on the persons profile that you just stopped by under the category called “People Who Viewed This Page Recently”. Just by having your image and link to your blog under that category will expose your profile to other surfers and will increase the chances of someone stopping by your profile therefor resulting in more visitors to your site. The more profiles you visit the more traffic you will get
- Join Communities. MyBlogLog has a maximum number of communities you can join which is currently set at 15 per day. So I highly recommend joining 15 communities per day. The larger the community you join the more traffic you will get from that community. You should try to join communities that are relevant to your site. If you are joining communities that have nothing in common with your site then the visitors you get from these communities will bring basically no value to your site and probably won’t contribute to your site. At the top of the MBL page there is a tab called “Communities”, this tab will have all of the top 50 communities with the most members in them, you should join all of those communities as soon as you can.
- Comment on other profiles on MyBlogLog. Say nice things to your fellow bloggers. A simple “Nice blog, keep up the good work”, might entice that blogger to visit your site. Do not spam your blog on as many profiles as you can or beg people to visit your site, this will make you look extremely unporfessional and will have a negative impact on your profile. MBL has a system set up where members can easily report spam to the admins and MBL and you will get banned in a heart beat.
- Be polite on MBL. When you get the chance you should thank any new visitors to your profile or any new members that have joined your community. A simple thank you will go a long way. Again do not flood users with links to your blog, if you leave a comment worth reading they will visit your site.
- Start a community. Starting a community is really easy to do and you don’t have to do anything to promote your community other than surfing profiles. Communities will give your site more exposure and increases the awareness of your profile.
- Visit other blogs that have the MyBlogLog widget installed on their site. When you are logged into MyBlogLog and visit any site that has the MBL widget, your profile picture will be left on that widget as well as a link to your MBL profile. This will encourage any readers or even the blog owner to click on your avatar and visit your site. The more sites you visit with the MBL widget installed the more traffic you will get. Stopping by high traffic sites that have this widget installed is probably the best way to gain the most traffic. Maurizio at Nafurai.com has a great article on how to maximize MyBlogLog traffic.
MyBlogLog won’t bring in huge amounts of traffic but it is worth the time and effort if you have a blog that needs that extra boost of traffic. If you use MBL correctly you should be able to get anywhere from 10-15 visitors per day just by using MyBlogLog. Remember to be polite and most of all don’t use MBL as a massive link spam site. Nothing will piss off your fellow members more than spamming links to your blog. This will generate no extra traffic to your site and will probably will result in you getting banned. MyBlogLog has a system set up where users can easily contact the MBL admins and report any cases of spam.
What kind of traffic do you guys get from MyBlogLog? Do you think it’s worth the physical effort to promote your blog using MyBlogLog. Please feel free to join my community here.

I’ve had about 30 visitors from MyBlogLog this month so far and the traffic is negligible. It seems as though MBL is getting a bit spammy these days. But, I still do like to see the images of recent visitors constantly changing.

What you say here is absolutely correct!
I’m guilty of being on your website right now because I found you on MyBlogLog and I’m looking to make some more blogging friends…
I’m glad I found you’re site, anyway! Keep up the good work! I’ll be visiting often…

Hey,
You spelled unprofessional wrong ;). Kind of ironic. It’s in your post as “unporfessional”. Just thought I’d let you know :).
