Increase Blog Traffic -Part 3 - Using Spicy Page For Traffic
Aug. 16th, 2007 by ShaunSpicypage is similar to to MyBlogLog in a sense that it is a massive online social community with the sole purpose for discovering new blogs, making new friends, and joining communities. According to Spicypage:
SpicyPage lets you post, comment on , vote on, share your favorites sites or blogs with your friends and others like you. SpicyPage is a new way of web-ranking solution to determine the best sites or blogs, 100% powered by its members. Discover and bookmark the new and the best sites/blogs out there and connect with people of the same interest as you.

Here is how you bring traffic to your site using SpicyPage
First you will need to make a new account, this can be done by clicking the “Join Now” button which can easily be found at the top of every page on Spicypage.com. Once you fill out your information you will want to customize your profile page and like MyBlogLog you will want you to upload your own avatar which represents your account. After you have filled out the information about your blog and put it in the correct categories your site will now be eligible to be voted on. All new sites that have joined up with Spicypage are put on the first page of all the appropriate categories to which your site falls under. This is where people can easily see your site and vote for you. Any new sites that joined will get some quick and easy votes until their site is bumped off the first page by newer sites that recently joined.
The voting process for Spicypage is really simple. You just have to be logged in and you can start voting for any site you desire. To vote you can either click the thumbs up or thumbs down for the site depending on if you like the site or not. There is no limit to the number of sites you can vote on however you can only vote for a site once every 30 days.
Spicypage allows you to submit articles from your site. Once you have submitted an article your site will be featured on the home page of Spicypage along with your article under the “Whats New” section”. This section features all of the newest articles that have been most recently submitted. When people click on the article they are automatically brought to your site to read your post. This will drive some extra traffic to your site due to the fact that you are now on the home page of a high traffic site.
The voting system for Spicypage is similar to Digg (Digg brings in much more traffic than Spicypage), the more votes you get the more exposure your profile and your blog will get. So it is in your best interest to get more votes for your site. You have to be friendly around Spicypage, make as many friends as you can, join as many communities as possible and most of all vote for as many websites as you can. Spicypage records who votes for who in everyones profile so if you vote for a lot of sites members will notice your vote and probably return the favor. I did a little test with this, I asked a friend to join Spicypage at the exact same time as me and he was inactive around Spicypage and I joined communities, added friends to my profile and voted for a bunch of sites. After about 2 weeks I had over 40 votes for my site and he only had 15. This proves that being an active member in Spicypage will get you more exposure and most of all votes.
Spicypage wont bring you huge floods of traffic but it will bring in 3-5 visitors per day if you spend 2 or 3 minutes a day surfing around Spicypage. If these visitors from Spicypage aren’t worth the time for your blog then I don’t recommend participating with this site.
Personally I think this site has no real value for bloggers. Anyone can vote for any site they desire. All votes are equal and there is no limit to the number of sites you can vote on. This is somewhat of a spam site actually, I have seen people who have voted over 10,000 times. Did this person actually visit 10,000 sites and think they were worth voting for? Probably not, this person has one thing in mind and that is to share as many as votes as possible so people return the favor and vote for his/her site. But in the end Spicypage will deliver some visitors to your site and we can not argue that fact no matter how much I disagree with this site.

I’m kinda glad about your negative conclusion. Getting a bit overwhelmed by the sites I have already join so now I don’t have to join yet another one

Yeh I have been experimenting with this site and I don’t think the amount of time you need to invest in it just to bring a few visitors is worth the effort.

Never heard of it before this and by the sounds of it, doesn’t seem like I was missing anything.

Hadn’t heard of it either. By the slogan on the logo I thought it was going to be a StumbleUpon clone

I feel the same way. I think it’s a waste of time….

I have 18 votes for SizzledCore.com on Spicy Page
But I still prefer StumbleUpon, because I never got any hits on my posts from Spicy Page
. SU gets me 3000+ hits for a post
