Quickly increase your Alexa rank to make more money

What is Alexa?

Alexa is a search engine that ranks other websites according to the amount of visitors the website receives. Unlike Google’s page rank system which uses a complex system of algorithms or backlink count, Alexa uses a much simpler way of determining traffic levels to a site. According to Alexa:

Alexa’s traffic rankings are based on the usage patterns of Alexa Toolbar users over a rolling 3 month period. A site’s ranking is based on a combined measure of reach and pageviews. Reach is determined by the number of unique Alexa users who visit a site on a given day. Pageviews are the total number of Alexa user URL requests for a site. However, multiple requests for the same URL on the same day by the same user are counted as a single pageview. The site with the highest combination of users and pageviews is ranked #1.

So simply put, the more visitors you get to your site who have the Alexa toolbad installed, the better your Alexa rank will be.

Many people put down Alexa because the results aren’t exactly accurate but no matter what the case is if you are a blogger your Alexa ranking does matter! But why…well let me explain. Any internet company, advertiser, webmaster, and ad network often use your Alexa rank to determine the worth of an ad on your website. I totally agree that Alexa is inaccurate but that is the way it is and if you are interested in increasing your Alexa rank read on.

  • -Install the Alexa Toolbar on your own computer and visit your site using the tool bar everyday. This is obvious but it works.
  • -Get friends to visit your site using the Alexa tool bar.
  • -Use an Alexa redirect on your website URL.
  • -Encourage visitors on your site to use the Alexa tool bar.
  • -Don’t be afraid to show off your URL. When you comment on other blogs or forums always leave a link to your site for the extra traffic which will increase your Alexa rank.
  • -Social networks like Digg and Stumble upon will greatly incrase your Alexa rank.
  • -Use Advertising campaigns like Google, Yahoo, MSN or any other network. Pay-per-click advertising will also work.
  • -Write your content for the audience of webmaster, tech heads, and internet fans. The majority of people using the Alexa tool bar aren’t your average internet surfers.

You can download the Alexa tool bar here. You can add the Alexa Site Stats Button to your site which will automatically update your sites stats every day.

I did install the Firefox SearchStatus Add-on and it seems to be helping.

I don’t write on a tech topic so it’s completely off topic for me to post about Alexa on my site, but I do use one of their widgets, which is also supposed to help (since a user can click on it and learn more about Alexa). :)

Yup i think if a person clicks on the widget it counts as a person visiting your site with the tool bar installed.

I was reading a blog entry about Alexa today also. He said if you just add the Alexa widget it can help with your ranking:

A low ranking on Alexa does not indicate that the traffic is not being generated on http://www.google.co.in, http://www.search.yahoo.com and http://www.search.msn.com search engines.
