Setting realistic goals

Setting goals in life is just as equally important as setting blogging goals. I just want to ask two questions:

1. Do you have goals for your blog?
2. If yes, have you written them down?

Anyone serious about blogging should know that there’s a less than 1% chance that your blog will become “one of those blogs”. The popular blog that maintain thousands of readers per day. The same blog that always gets Dugg, slashdotted or saved to del.icio.us. If the chances of your blog becoming successful are so slim how do you guarantee your success? You start with goals. Small goals to be exact. Here is a list of my goals that I will try to accomplish:

- I want over 500 unique visitors to my blog every day.
- I want to post a minimum of 2 quality blog posts every day.
- I want 25 RSS Subscribers
- I want to enter the top 100,000 blogs on technorati

This is my goal list that I will be working on over the next month or so. For any success on a blog you need make sure you are heading towards a series of achievable goals. If you achieved one of your goals, great, give yourself a pat on the back and scratch that off of your listed goals. If you didn’t achieve success in a certain area don’t freak out, just ask yourself why you failed your goal and come up with educated ways to make your original goal possible.

Having goals in anything will keep you motivated enough to succeed. Do you think you have what it takes to succeed with your blog? What are your blogging goals for 2007?
